Marlina and Andrew might get our prize for the bride or groom who traveled the farthest to get married here at Cay Pointe Villa. Andrew’s Australian and the two of them live in Australia now.
It can be really difficult to coordinate a wedding from a different country, let alone a different continent, let alone a time difference of 14 hours. But we make it easy for brides and grooms regardless of where they are because we know they’re under a lot of stress pulling it all together.
The thing we love about hosting a wedding involving participants from other countries is that we learn different wedding traditions and activities that we can then incorporate and suggest into future weddings Cay Pointer Villa. If you are stuck for ideas, ask us. We’ve been doing this for a long time and we have all kinds of suggestions for a memorable beach wedding.
The Decorations and Style
The bride and groom played up the seaside enchantment by lining the aisle with lanterns. They brought in a frame under which to say their vows and decorated it in a white gossamer material that billowed in the wind.
Marlina and Andrew ensured that all guests could find their seats by giving them small compasses marked with their table number. Speaking of tables, the tables were decorated in gorgeous neutrals with pops of green in the centerpieces, which were flanked by lanterns and candles.
Marlina wore a lace-covered sheath dress with a small train. Her hair was in an elegant upsweep to set off the beautiful back necklace made of pearls.
She carried a trailing bouquet of verdant greenery and cream-colored flowers. The groom sported a gray suit and got married barefoot with the sugary sand between his toes.
The happy couple opted for live music, a talented duo on the guitar and ukelele.
The wedding table faced the water so they could not only enjoy their guests but the memorable views as well. With 248 sunny days annually in St Pete Beach, it’s no wonder the brides and grooms come to us to host their ceremony and reception outdoors.
The Cake and Food
The cake was a gorgeous three-tiered confection with cream-colored fondant and a piped-in filigree lacework design. Guests commented on its understated elegance, perfect for a wedding on the beach. White flowers topped the custom cake. Cows and a train set atop one of the most unusual groom’s cakes we’ve ever seen.
The bride and groom chose to serve pitchers of refreshing beverages like strawberry lemonade and cucumber water, perfect thirst-quenchers for being outside in the hot Florida sun.
While hydration is essential when spending time outside down here and we always make sure our out of town brides and grooms know this, it is also not as hot on the beach as you might imagine; especially as the sun goes lower on the horizon and begins to set.
Many of our brides and grooms choose this magical time to get married not only because they want a beach wedding at sunset but because it’s also a little cooler then it is at midday.
Festivities
After the ceremony, the bride and groom opted for a little alone time by the Gulf taking a quick stroll along the water, a popular activity for many of our newlyweds.
They encourage their guests to return to the villa to enjoy food and drinks. Then the couple spends a moment together as husband and wife on one of the most beautiful beaches in the country.
Marlina and Andrew danced the night away under festive white lights. When the sun dipped down below the horizon, the lanterns and candles lit the night air with romance.
Then they brought forth the Chinese lanterns and invited guests to light them. The giant paper balloons set off on a journey of their own over the Gulf as the perfect end to this celebration of romance.
