Tim and Kim Keeler are one of those couples that have an infectious zest for life so we were thrilled when they wanted to host their wedding and reception at the Cay Pointe Villa. They traveled to our sunny shores all the way from Aurora, Colorado. And most of their guests were from out of state as well. This gave us the opportunity to show them some old Florida hospitality.
“I Do”
Kim did the planning herself and it was easy to work with her vision. She knew exactly what she wanted and had an eye for building upon the beauty of the area. But then Kim is a professional event planner and it was a delight to work with her.
We host weddings with all levels of planning from the hands-on brides to those who just want to show up and everything be handled for them. Florida is a popular place for destination weddings and we’re happy to host formal and informal gatherings from 20-200.
Saint Petersburg held a special place in Tim’s and Kim’s hearts as this is where they met. Getting married on the beach in one of their favorite spots was a natural choice. Plus, who doesn’t love the balmy breezes of Florida in January?
Arranging a wedding long distance is not always easy so we work with our brides and grooms to help as their “eyes and ears on the ground.” Kim purchased the decor for the wedding and had it sent to our office so she wouldn’t have to worry about bringing it with her. The day after their wedding Kim took to social media and ended up selling all of her pieces. Now that’s an entrepreneurial bride!
Their wedding took place in the late afternoon on a mid-January day and the festivities lasted into the evening taking full advantage of our spectacular sunset. In fact, they loved the setting so much and the natural beauty that abounds on our private beach area that they used it to inspire their wedding decor.
The Decorations
The bride’s bouquet and the silk flowers lining the sandy aisle were straight out of the color palette of the romantic magentas and oranges of our sunsets here in the Tampa Bay area.
They also incorporated the natural beauty in the centerpieces of each of the tables. The centerpieces were simple and elegant with sand-filled hurricane glasses and thick white pillar candles. They brought a pop of color to the centerpieces with turquoise tulle around the base creating a beautiful, yet subtle, arrangement that didn’t interfere with guests being able to enjoy the natural scenery or one another. Their guests also marveled at the sunset-colored favors at each place setting.
The couple added a touch of whimsy to the tables as well with silver pails of goldfish crackers, rounding out their ocean theme.
The Cake
Their wedding cake was magnificent. She worked with the local Publix to create a sandcastle wedding cake. The dessert was almost too gorgeous to eat. It was the first sandcastle wedding cake we had seen and it’s now become a very popular trend among brides at beach locations.
Happily Ever After
The ceremony itself was a romantic testament to their love and their sense of fun. The couple even “rode off” in a sunshine yellow beach bike for two.
Tim and Kim also took full advantage of Mother Nature’s gorgeous backdrop as part of their wedding pictures. Their images are swoon-worthy and romantic enough to be on the cover of a swept away romance novel.
As the sun set and their new lives began as husband and wife, their guests dined on delicious food under white oversized fairy lights while listening to the gentle lap of the waves and the toasts of their friends to this amazing couple.
We were so excited to welcome them back for their first anniversary the following year. They came back for their fifth as well. Many of our couples come back on subsequent anniversaries and we’re always happy to catch up on the events in their lives.
